How to Make Your Own Aromatherapy Blends for Common Health Ailments

Everyone interprets scents differently, and connects certain smells with poignant memories. But regardless of what scents resonate with you personally, researchers have proven that, psychologically, the human sense of smell is the most accurate sense at triggering specific memories and emotions.

The olfactory system is what our brain uses to detect a smell. 

Scents have both a proven psychological benefit but also physical and mental health benefits too. 

Working off of this idea, DIY’ers around the globe have concocted oil blends to naturally combat common health ailments, naturally.  

In order to make these at home to apply to your skin, be sure to put them into a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil or jojoba oil. 

Take a look at some of these aromatherapy remedies you can try:

Can’t Sleep: 5 drops Lavender + 7 drops Roman Chamomile

Sore Muscles: 2 drops Ginger + 1 drop Black Pepper + 4 drops Peppermint + 5 drops Eucalyptus

Stress: 2 drops Lemon + 4 drops Lavender + 6 drops Clary Sage

Cuts and Bruises: 6 drops Tea Tree + 6 drops Lavender

Headaches and Sinus Congestion: 4 drops Peppermint + 8 drops Eucalyptus

If you do want to try these combinations at home, try to find small dark bottles to store them in.  Dark glass will let less light into the contents and keep your oils from going off, as heat is damaging to their properties.
